524 - Convergence

When thinking of the relationship between the artist and their tool, I often ponder on luck and convergence. The latter being the ways in which the tool becomes an extension and a conduit for the inertia within the holder. The former I’ve become to conceptualize as the universe offering assistance through wonders and chance. In my 10 years of convergence with these tools I’ve welcomed luck with open arms, and find some of my favorite work to be splattered with the signature of the beyond.

The Gambit of Clarity

Taken through a train window - Over the past few years I’ve practiced seeing as a Passenger. Through moving vehicles I’ve found compositions encased in blurring moments. Through ‘Passenger’ and beyond I’m proud to say these frames have become increasingly intentional and meditative, always coexisting with shades of luck and timing. I remain grateful to my camera, a tool and extension that allows me to see often what I have yet to discover. To see the world through different ‘lenses’ is detrimental - to my work and my function as a human.

Led By Light (2022)
A series exploring a being following the 'source'. The places we go and ways we see are often determined by light, whether the physical, optical definition or the unseen presence that coexists on these realms. Through ourselves and the world we discover beacons, leading us to through futures unseen amidst an often tumultuous world. To be led by light is to see and feel; to voyage and perceive. Only experienced together will they provide true vision.
At the beginning of the pandemic I stayed at my partner’s house for several months, studying this post in her backyard every single day. Days, weeks, months went by as this post tethered me to monotony whilst reminding me the beauty in it all.

It took 2 years for me to raise my camera and capture this scene. It reminds me of echoing redundancy, whose songs I gladly play. The culmination of a journey; and for that I hold immense pride.
